چکیده
Adverse experiences in early life have profound influences on the developing central nervous system (CNS) and change the behavior in adult life in human. To analyze the influences, one of the well-documented experimental manipulations is maternal deprivation in rats. Any types of maternal deprivations can alter pup developments in the CNS and change the behavior. Moreover, the researches provide the potential animal models of the major mental disorders caused by nurture, not nature, in human. Comprehensive behavioral test battery is frequently used to study the abnormal behaviors of mouse with targeted gene mutations. In the present study, we applied the method to the behavioral phenotyping of the rats experiencing maternal deprivation. Since sex-specific effects were observed in the maternal deprivation, we subjected both sexes of rats experiencing maternal deprivation to the comprehensive behavioral test battery consisting of general health check, neurological screening tests, 24-hour home cage activity monitoring, hanging wire test, vertical pole test, rotarod test, visual placing test, Preyer reflex test, two bottle choice test, painted odorant test, paintbrush stimulating test, light-dark exploration test, open field test, social interaction tests, prepulse inhibition (PPI) test, latent inhibition (LI) test, passive avoidance (PA) test, and novel object recognition test.

Oxytocin improves autistic-like behaviors induced by maternal deprivation in female rats
Background and Objective: Maternal deprivation as an early life negative experience can lead to enduring disorders such as autism-like behaviors by affecting brain development. Oxytocinergic system alters in the process of maternal deprivation, on the other hand the positive effect of oxytocin on the improvement of social behavior and stereotyped behavior in autism disorder has been shown. In t...

متن کاملI-35: Genetic Aberrations in Early Development:The Origins and The Fates
Genetic aberrations are commonly seen in human preimplantation embryos. Non-disjunction and premature division of a chromosome are common in both meiosis and mitosis divisions. The expected result for meiotic aneuploidies is full aneuploidy in the later stages whereas mosaicism is the most frequent event in the cleavage and blastocyst stages. The main causes for mosaicism are post-zygotic event...
متن کاملMaternal Separation and the Risk of Drug Abuse in Later Life
Maternal separation (MS) is defined as the termination of the continuity of mother-child relationship after the relationship is established. Although MS and maternal deprivation are different in terms of their definitions, these two terms are usually used interchangeably. This review aims to investigate the effect of MS on drug intake in adulthood. It has been proved that animal models are help...
